Children begin using technology as a tool for creativity, making simple digital content and expressing their ideas.

Key Stage 1 Year 2 Lessons

🖥️ Computing Systems & Networks
Children build on their Year 1 knowledge by exploring how computers and digital devices work together. They begin to understand that computers can be connected and that networks allow information to be shared.

🌐 The Internet & Staying Safe Online

Learners discover what the internet is and how it can be used to find and share information. They develop age-appropriate strategies for staying safe, making sensible choices and knowing when to ask a trusted adult for help.

🧩 Programming & Algorithms

Children begin to understand that computers follow instructions. Through games and practical activities, they explore sequences, algorithms, commands and debugging.

🔍 Finding & Using Information

Learners develop early skills in searching for information, recognising useful information and understanding that not everything they see online should automatically be trusted.

🎨 Creating Digital Content

Children use digital tools to create and communicate ideas, developing their confidence with text, images and other forms of digital content.
📊 Data & Information
Learners explore how information can be collected, organised and represented. They begin to understand how computers can help us store and work with information.
